What do you want in the X-Pro2?

I'm on the fence as to whether purchase an X-Pro1 as a compliment to my X100, or wait for the future X-Pro2.

With that in mind, what do you want in the X-Pro2?

I want:
Smaller body
Faster focus
Better manual focus
Better EVF (ala X-E1)

More than a new X-Pro1, I'd like to see an updated X100 with more MPs, faster AF, and more robust dials and buttons on the back. With regard to the X-Pro1, I'll take faster AF and more MPs. It's nice to print big easily. Higher ISO is always nice too... That said, I love these cameras as is and am fine using them a few more years.

I like the qs style in DP Merrill. Much faster to spot which setting. Fuji qs is a bit cluttered.

Faster af would be nice but already acceptable for me shooting style.

24mp would be nice. Ff not required... Not ready to buy a bunch of new lenses.

Sort of already there with distance scale. A bar around the focus point expands or contracts due to changes in f stop, but too conservative, so I tend not to se it much.

I would love instead to have this on the lens barrel like the old days.

I find the Exp. comp bar and other readouts much too light for me to be able to see well in brighter light.

I would love some sort of psudo-rangefinder mode for the viewfinder (overlay EVF with optical viewfinder maybe?). Seems very far-fetched, but could be quite cool.

Better focus - able to lock more reliably. Speed is a nice bonus, but no longer critical.

A more sensible control layout. Put the directional buttons under a thumb so switching the focal point is easier.

A nicer EVF designed with both "adjusted" view (i.e. boosting light for focus) and "true" view (i.e. exposure preview) in mind. Also increase the resolution and refresh rate to make focus checking on legacy lenses easier.

Overall I think the X-Pro does what it does very well if you use fuji lenses. It mostly needs tweaks and improved components. Its abilities are only really lacking when you try to use legacy glass on it.

Besides everything mentioned, I really would like an OVF that is scalable from 21 - 90 mm equivalent in stead of having to revert to an EVF for the extreme values. I really like the OVF on my x100 and only use the EVF if I really have to.

+1 John. I just hope it's not a pipe dream considering that Fuji is spending all it's energy on CSC's (not a bad thing)

I don't about body size, but I'd love the camera to have a grip similar to the one that you need to attach to the XP-1. I'd also like the camera to be more rugged (no plastic battery cover) I think focus can be slightly improved. I want to be able to shoot in 'S' focus mode but with the 'X' style focusing point found in continuous mode (especially for portraits.) The EVF needs to at least match the XE-1. And the buffer, even though FW2.0 helped a lot, I don't want to ever miss a shot due to buffering. Obviously, they ****ed up by not putting in a built in diopter so that's a must. I'm hoping this will do this with another FW update with the XP-1, but I really want to be able to do x3 focus check when in AF-S focus mode.
Aside from that, the XP-1 is still the best digital camera I've ever used.

Although I didn't notice it then, apparently this was fixed with firmware 2.0.

I did notice it with 2.01, After I did the update I noticed all my settings were the same, I had to double check that the firmware took.

Hmmm. I did install 2.00, but my settings were already lost by then because I did the V1.11 update first.

I haven't yet done the 2.01 update, but this sounds promising. Thanks for the tip!

A more scratch-resistant display. Mine got slightly scratched the first day (I don't know how), while my "cheap" Canon EOS 350D is still scratch-free, since 2005 (and it has seen rough days).

So now I have a screen protector, I hope it will be enough.

I do not like the on/off switch, it feels cheap. I hope it is just an impression and that it will still be in place in 5-10 years. Anyway, it could made of a superior material on a X-Pro2.

All in all, I do not feel the need for a new camera. I want more XF lenses. A real 85 or 90mm (f2, or f2.8), and perhaps a small 200mm prime (or a 135mm?). Its feasible, since they have a 55-200mm on their road map...

Another one too BAD manual.

The brightness of the LCD can be controlled differently then the evf/ovf. Use quick menu icon for LCD brightness. W/ face away from ovf/evf u can set differently. Now set ovf/evf (this changes affect both ovf and evf)... By using the quick menu icon again while eye is looking into the ovf. Make your changes while your eye is still looking into ovf finder..

Forgot focus peaking implementation similar to Sony Nex and mag feature similar to Ricoh gxr for manual focus rf lenses.

Support for manual focus lenses correction w/o need for Fuji m adapter.

Fuji made the xpan lenses, how about supporting those less w/ an adapter 😀.. Would mind seeing a digital xpan from them since they made the body for Hasselblad.
