what does this hood fit?

was all excited about the fison hood i bought and that just arrived.

it looked a bit small out of the packing material but it said elmar 5cm and that was what it was going on, my 50/2.8 elmar lens.

and it's way too small.

fits my canon 35/2.8 (36mm push/clamp on size)

so, what elmar 50 does this fit?

FISON fits the 'old' 50/3.5 Elmar. It's considered an A36 size.

The ITOOY hood is the one for the later 2.8 and 3.5 Elmars (lenses with 39mm filter threads). I'm sure Kevin has a selection.

i have a lovely aftermarket hood for the lens but thought an original leitz hood would be so much nicer...doh!!

maybe kevin would like to trade...

Missed another goodie for my Canon 35/2.8. This is getting to be a habit. Serves me right for working...and fondling my new camera body when I should have been reading the RFF. 😀

wayne, you didn't miss anything.
while this fits on the 35 it is too narrow. my leitz hood that sits on my 35 is made for a leica 35 so it works ok.

my guess is this hood would vignette on a 35.

The 12585 or IROOA will also work on the E39 mount Elmar 50/2.8.

Actually, I think my testing has shown that the FISON will work with an Elmar 35/3.5. But, I think it would vignette a Summaron 35/3.5, since the front element is so much larger.
