What fast glass is there for the X-Pro1?

Just curious....

What fast glass is available for the X-mount that will cover at least most of the sensor? Anything like the Voigtlander 17mm f/0.95 for m4/3? Faster than f/1.4?

I can't find the links now but I've seen some great results from the VC 50 f1.1. It's a lens I've never been fond of (well based on the results I've seen) but the pics on the X-Pro seemed great. Photographer not the glass I guess ;-)

Just saw that Fuji list - I wonder why the Zeiss 35 f2 is OK but not the f2.8? I should google it...

Thanks guys.

I guess what I was meaning were the little lenses that people were/are adapting to m4/3's...like the angenieux 25mm f/.95, etc. Non-Leica (or Leica mount) glass. Cheap, expensive, whatever.

Do any of those come even close to covering the fuji's sensor?

Patrick,

No, the sensor surface area difference is too great.

Besides, the real advantage of a lens like the 25/0.95 lens is to enable DOF flexibility similar to the APS-C 35/1.4 or 34/1.2 lenses. The extra light transmission with the 0.95 lens is nice, but not that important considering the high signal-to-noise ratio of the X-Pro 1.

Thanks, that's what I was wondering.

The only thing slightly holding me back from the XP1 is the relative lack of shallow DOF compared to a full frame camera. XP1 + 35/1.4 vs. Canon 5D + 50/1.4.

Am I correct in saying that the XP1 + 35/1.4 acts like a 50/2 in terms of depth of field (more or less)?

More or less, yes. For equivalent DoF, multiply by the "crop" factor. A 35 f/1.4 on APS-C behaves like a 52.5mm f/2.1 (in terms of DoF, which is dependent on physical aperture size, not in terms of light transmission, which is determined by f/stop).

35/1.4 wide open...

I really need to find a fast 24/25mm lens. It's killing me not having one. I love the DoF of a 35/1.4 @ wide open on full frame.

The closest thing to that FoV/DoF for a 1.5x crop sensor would be a 24mm f/1 lens. There's nothing like that on the market. Closest is the Voigtländer Nokton 25/0.95 for Micro-FourThirds mount .. I suppose you can fit it with a Micro-FourThirds to NEX adaptation, there are a couple of folks on Ebay offering this.

You can get a mount adapter for Canon FD and look for a 24mm f/1.4 lens, for a stop slower. Otherwise, I'm afraid you'll need an M9 body and you favorite 35/1.4 lens.
