My favorite cheese is Parmagana Reggiano from Italy. Some of us consider it to the the "King" of cheese. And. like most good cheese, it is a "raw cheese".

Here in the US, our Dept. of Agriculture regulates the import of cheese and, supposedly to protect us from harmful bacteria, inisists that all imported cheese be "cooked" to kill the "offending organisms".

This process "kills" the beautiful "mouth feel" grainy texture that characterizes Parmagana Reggiano even while keeping most of its flavor relatively intact ( but, so what?).

As a result (surprise) the USDA has created a non-tariff trade barrier to protect domestic producers of "knock off"" "parmesean cheese" (who are located, [sorry, Joe] mainly from Joe Friday's State of Wisconsin).

Fortunately, living as I do in New York City [the great immigrant capital of America] - wherein we are wont to have our cheese to be real and not "processed" I can regularly purchase "raw" Parmagana Reggiano!

Amazing that! How does it get here? Duh, I didn' see nuttin...

Now, Nick, substitute "cheese" with "film" and "USDA" with "KODAK"

Whaddya get?

Curious Kodak would market this print film in a chrome styled box. At first quick look it looks like Kodachrome. If you were traveling and needed to grab some slide film quickly you'd have the wrong box.
