Here it is, Oct 5 and I still see prices @ $4950 (BH, Popflash, PhotoVillage etc.).

I know there was supposed to be an apparent increase to $5495 (according to Tony's website).

Is Leica keeping the price "as is"?

Still pondering a purchase,
Dave

They are probably still sitting on stock ordered prior to the price increase. After they sell through what they have and reorder from Leica, you'll see the price go up.
Get 'em while they're hot!
BTW, even though our currency is on par with U.S. double check what your credit card would charge you if you are going to purchase that way. If they even charge you 10% it will be cheaper to buy in Canada right now. Locally M8s are $5399. Still out of my price range...:(

I have a local guy that I am willing to buy with - He's got them for $5000 - they're obviously "grey" market but after looking at B&H's website I note that there Leica does not offer their Passport warranty on the M8's.

B&H's 2 year limited warranty is the same as what my local guy offers.

Looks like I'm shopping at home..

Hmmm, as far as I know all legit M8s have six-month passport warranty. Maybe B&H is selling grey market cameras at full price?

Well.. I know that they've listed it as a "2 year limited warranty" according to their website.
I don't know what that means from their point of view but I know when I talked to my guy he said "If you have any problems with the camera, let me know and I will deal with the supplier directly"

If this was some "new guy" on the block I would be wary but he's been in the business for a number of years now so I don't doubt him on this statement.

I wonder what B&H is doing then..

Dave

There is a 2 year warranty from Leica for new M8's
It is like the passport warranty, but I guess because of digital it is only 2 not 3 years.
Don't get the B&H / MACK warranty, it is void if the camera is used for professional work.

I don't know were you're hailing from, but there is no Passport on the M8 in the USA. Only a 24-month limited warranty.

I hail from Vancouver, B.C. as it says under my name.
Anyway, I looked around a bit and it seems that European cameras get the Passport but North America does not. There is some confusion so I'm going to try and call Leica and get the lowdown!
