Hello.

Until I recive the WeinCell battery purchased on ebay. I have bought an alcaline 1.5 battery to use in my Canonet QL17.

This afternoon I´ve been testing the light meter and I noticed that in high speeds settings (1/250 and 1/500) the meter doesn´t work well.

A example: I was mettering a scene, witch aperture value was: 5.6 and shutter value was: 125.

I took the cam and moved the shutter speed ring to 125. No problem with it,the apterture selected by the light metter was at about 5.6 (ASA 400)

But, when I tried to move the ring to 500: Oh, no!!! the metter select: f16!!!! what happens!!

when I selected 250, the meter showed f16 as well!

I can´t undertand it! Is the meter dead!

No problem mettering in speeds under 125. the meter works well (Maybe 1 point of underexposure, but...)

Please, help me if you know something about.

THANKS!!

Make sure that the mask in front of the meter's CDS cell is moving as you change shutter speeds.

Check back if that is working.

Hi Brian.

Yes. The mask moves when I change shutter speeds.

Now I`ve a new problem: testing the light meter in low light conditions, the correct expossure was Tv: 1/8; Av: 4 (ASA 100)

I moved the ring to 1/15, 1/30 and the apertute change from f4 to 2.8, 1.7... but when I select 1/60, the aperture was: f16!!!!

In low light conditions the problem beggins at 1/60 instead of 1/250... that´s terrible!

Bye!

Something must be wrong with the variable resistor ring in the camera. They get dead spots, and can be jumpy. Try working the ASA selector back and forth. Also , set the Guide Number selector and work the focus. You should see the needle move evenly with the movement of the focus.

Barring that, something is "messed up". A CLA will probably take care of it, but can be costly.

Brian, I haven´t got a Guide NUmber selector on my Canonet (it´s the original Canonet QL17 with 45mm f1.7 lens)

I move the ASA selector and the esposure value changes, but not to the correct exposure...

Hi!

This morning I noticed when I´m in ASA 100 the problem with the light meter beggins at 1/60, and when I´m in ASA 400 the problems is at 1/250.

Do you know if this problem will be repaired? Why the problems deppends on the ASA setings and why I only have it at some sutter speeds values. Why the meter works well in other values? I can´t understand it...

Brian, the needle don´t moves when I move the focussing ring.

Bye!
