I have been quite an absent member lately 🙂
But I've been shooting mostly with:
- RX1Rii: this camera is a beast, I adore it. Sucks light out of nothing, the sensor is ridiculous, deals beautifully with recovering highlights and shadows, I love the tones it catches. Extremely silent, light, useable AF, beautiful 35/2 lens that is damn sharp even at f2. Battery life is crap but the batteries are tiny and light, so who cares, really?
- MP240 with the 40/1.2 Nokton and the ZM 50/2 Planar. I also have a 21/1.8 Ultron but don't use it that often. The Nokton is a fantastic all rounder. Draws much like the 35/1.2 v2, and field of view wise it's pretty close. Did a direct comparision today with a friend's 35/1.2. In fact i've gaffer taped the framelines lever on the 35/135 setting and using it as a tight 35. Bonus: the 40 is much tinier, but it's heavier. Balances beautifully on the MP240. Being fast is uite useful as the low light performance of the MP240 is quite meh for itself. Which also makes me not use the Planar as much as I like the lens as f2 with 1/60 will deliver underexposed shots (i cap the iso at 1600 otherwise it gets quite bad). But the lens in daylight shines, that thing is really sharp and I like how it draws. But I'm missing a faster 50. For now I'll settle though, as I'm tight on $.
Now, apart from gear: I'm pretty much capturing the same subjects I've always have - random people, odd and beautiful things and places, food and drinks, spend most of the year in London and then travelling a bit through Europe, so there was a lot of travel photos as well.
