What is a good price for an enlarger setup?

thanks - yes, I figured that prices on enlargers had dropped more than anything else in the photographic arsenal of tools since scanners and inkjets simplified the most complex part of the process . . . . in my opinion, at least.

$550 is more than fair, but not realistic. . . if that makes any sense.

There is a member selling his stuff, I might bite.

The darkroom set up looks like it includes the whole enchilada. The less than welcome news is that prices for darkroom gear have really dropped, so a fair price versus a realistic price really describes the current situation. In other words, it is a buyers market.

For what its worth, I'm keeping my darkroom gear for as long as B/W photographic paper and chemistry are around.

I agree w Michiel. Of course the level of the equipment can vary a lot, dragging the VALUE up but the price to be paid for it is a different matter. Durst equipment, nikkor and rodenstock lenses are considerd (i think) a good enlarging equipment, and they go for 100 eurp or less, incl all kind of accessories.
NEW durst enlargeres in the shops are offered for 99 euro, a 70-80% price drop from the original.

Also, the better/more expensive darkroom gear was used probably by professionals who really can afford and motivate "goin digital" so these end up on the second hadn websites quite easily. Whiuch is good if you want to buy something🙂

For $550, you could get a top-of-the-line Focomat rather than a Beseler. Unless the lenses are really high end, it sounds overpriced even for medium format.

$200, for a Bessler 23C, or an Omega D2 with carriers, good glass and extras. For the beefier enlargers, the price may be outwieghed (pun intended) by shipping costs.

Welcome back to "the old way". Its the only way for many of us. It kinda depends on what your needs are. I bought a used Omega B22 enlarger and acces. for $100 and a Nikkor EL 50mm 2.8 lens for less than $100. That deal you are lookinig at doesnt seem too bad, includes lots of gear. Can you make a counter offer?

Hi,

I bought a 4x5 IFF enlarger with componon-s 135 for EUR 50 a few months ago. I have bought several other compnon-s lenses all for less than EUR 50.
Prices are ridicilous low. Only enlargers making some money are the latest grey focomats.

Cheers,

Michiel Fiokkema

$550 for all that kit is a steal if you compare it to UK prices!
