If u are after a front jean pocket --> pocketable everyday carry solution..I have both rx100mk1 and the Ricoh gr apsc. I like using the gr better. It has better high iso and I like its handling much better than the rx100.
If it does not have to be front jean pocket --> what about picking up the 27f2.8 pancake again for the xe1 or a lx100 or x100 (original)?

front jean pocket would be ideal...i have a tiny canon 780 that fits there...the lx3 fits better in a coat pocket...i carry both daily...
good for small prints i think.
i had a grd and loved it too...i remember it as bigger than all the others i had.

Canon EOS M. Much bigger sensor...fast and great 35mm equivalent lens. Slightly larger as the lens doesn't retract but much better built, and cheaper, too...
I've owned the RX. No contest.. The Canon is an amazing little cam for the money. And it focuses super close...paid $265, mint in box.
I own both.
The EOS M sensor is nice, the form is nice, that 35 equivalent lens is a little gem. BUT the Autofocus is so spectacularly slow in comparison to the RX100 (even with the latest firmware) that if it comes down to just choosing between the two, the Eos M is never ever leaving the house.
I wanted to like it, I STILL want to like it, (I frequently say to a photographer friend of mine "I'm determined to make this thing work") it's useful (with the adapter) as a tiny APSC back for Canon lenses. but on its own it's borderline offensive in use.
The RX100 sensor is also really great, put an Aki Asahi skin on it and the form factor is perfect for a compact, and the AF is lightning fast.
To me, there's no comparison between the two at all.

If you had one before, why is it that you don't have one anymore?
Was it something you didn't want then, and if so why do you want to buy one again?

Jeff, I wasn't very impressed with the EVF on the III. but if the other features make it worth the upgrade, might be a nice option.
Thanks. Understood. Frankly, the Sony WhiteMagic screen completely changed my opinion of screen-only cameras. The EVF would just be a bonus -I do not think I would upgrade for the sake of upgrading.

Stick with the LX3 for the time being, but why not look for an LX7 - just a tad bigger but better!
