Hi all,

I bought three M7s 15 months ago, one of each viewfinder (.58/.72/.85) as I didn't have the chance to try before I buy and I wear glasses....I know crazy buying all three!!!

Anyway, the .72 is my fit and I need to sell the .58 and .85. I have never used either camera and both are preconditioned Leica so they are 9.999/10
condition with the updated viewfinder. Really as new impeccable condition.

This is not an ad for sale but I'm just enquiring, in this digital age, how much are these worth to sell? I bought them for $3300 Australian dollars each (currently approx US $2375/ 1585 pounds sterling). Is this an unreasonable price to sell so I don't lose any money on the purchase?

Any advice appreciated.

Last week in the US, the M7 was about $5400 in a kit with the 50 2.0 Summicron, and $4400 for the body , before rebates, negotiations etc.
That is with a 3 year bumper to bumper no fault warranty from Leica

I'm wondering if you do the same thing when you go to the Porsche dealer, one read, one yellow, one black...

depending on condition ive seem them go for around ~US1600 to ~2200 regularly on here and ebay. .58 and .85 might be higher in that range.

These have been sold on the great Bay before crisis started (prices in EURO - corrected) zw means black; NV means: not sold

btw, AU3300 for an M7 is pretty good deal. where in Oz did you get it?

Purchase was from the US (KEH.com) when the Aussie dollar was rating sky high!

..as for the Porsche comment....no I'm not wealthy (at all!)...but the intention was to keep the two for different film speeds. Now I'm on the lookout for a used, but not abused M7/.72 for this purpose, IF I can sell off these two for a good price.

Ron,

Those prices are very disappointing from a seller's perspective. Both my M7s are black so I'm assuming are worth more?

I might be wrong but I think you can put a 1.25 magnifier on the .58 and make it a .72. That way you would only have to sell one.

I haven't been following prices recently but I sold a 0.85x M7 (bought in Oz) for $2300 last year after the economy went sour. I have a 0.72x to sell with MP finder and optical DX reader and I'm hoping to get a price in that range. Those prices look low to me too, although let's not forget that the US$ has been something of a depressed currency.

The price Ron listed is about right. I have seen m7 run about 1500$ on average for the last a few months (used in ex condition). Our sponsor has some great deals listed on ebay for around 2200$ (has all the upgrade with MP finder) and I think they are good value.

I'd suggest that you give it a shot and list it here in the Classifieds for the price that you want... you'd be surprised :) There have been some good condition M7 going for near $2000 USD

Since you bought them from KEH, have a look at their web site and see what they're selling for now. From your description they sound mint (not sure exactly what a preconditioned camera is), or minty, and I would expect to get around $2200 at least if they were mine. Or $2000 for a quick sale.

Well if you sell the ,58 and ,85 you should get a very slight premium ~100USD.

I'd try listing them here at 2250 USD. I think you will have to wait a bit to get a buyer, but be firm about that price. It is competitive, fair and not much of a loss for you considering the financial situation.

Good luck with sale.

tamarkin has several black chrome, & one chrome for 2, 21k. near mint.

All things even, the .58 gets the premium as many Leica shooters prefer 50mm and wider. I have a M7 (.58) and I'm in heaven even tho I also have an MP (.72).

Congrats and good luck w/ the resale.

I have ordered one in black chrome (0.72x) with upgraded MP VF and optical DX reader with one year Leica warranty from the sponsor of this site for ~ USD1900 just one week ago.

These prices seem awfully low. You sure they are USD?

SORRY ALL; IT IS OF COURSE EURO!!!

Indeed it seems the black ones are more wanted, and the 0.85 and 0.58 are more rare.

Btw mine is for sale. A black one with 0.85 (mp) finder. It comes complete with all the boxes, manual, strap.
USD 1675

Though I think prices have diminished a noticeable amount in the last 6 months, I think this has happened with everything from cameras to houses. I own a nice M7 that eventually I'd like to sell on my way to digital, but I also live (and rent) in NYC so I am fingers crossed that things keep slipping downward a bit. What a world...
