What is causing this RED FLARE on my pics?

hey all,

i ran my first roll of color through my new fed 2. about half the pics had a nasty red flare in the bottom left corner, some worse than others. see pics.

what, in your opinion is causing this? would a hood help? could it be a light leak of some sort? woudn't think so because it is sporadic. kinda driving me nuts....

This looks like a light leak to me.

Looks like a light leak to me as well. Note that this is in the lower left side of the photo so the leak would likely be the upper right of the camera back. Foam seals gone maybe?

i just got this camera from yuri @fedka. i'll shoot him an e-mail. hopefully a simple solution because i really like this camera!

Yep, light leak. It's weird in the sense that there doesn't seem to have some sort of "pattern". Perhaps the lab messed up? Try shooting another roll, and take it to a different lab, see if it happens again.

i went back and checked my other rolls and there is definitely a pattern- just very noticable on "lighter" shots and much less on "darker" pics. will need to be resolved, but i'm not too worried.

Well, there ya go. Hopefully it's something as simple as a light seal. Who knows, I'm not a hardware expert. Ask the G-man (greyhoundman), he may know.

Check the light seals at the top of the body where the back seats when closed. You may be able to fix your problem without the expense and time required if you return it to Yuri. If you don't think you can repair it, then by all means return it for correction. Your examples make it look like a camera worth keeping.

thanks. this was just a test roll, and though none of the pics are what i would consider "keepers", the camera and lens definitely are. once i get this little dilemma resolved i believe i will have one little gem here!
