What is Hasselblad up to?

Hasselblad has started a launch countdown (link here: http://www.hasselblad.com/promotions/countdown.aspx ) for a new product. Rumours have gone for years that Hasselblad might launch a sort of 'digital RF' camera. Either a digital XPan or a digital SWC (http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photograph...lad/cameras/hasselmodels/models/superwide.htm ). Or, a wild speculation: Hasselblad could well be one of the competitors that could challenge Leica on making a digital M.

Probably only another overblown space opera part in the seemingly endless and overpriced H3x series, with a terapixel count.

EDIT: I saw now that they are moving onto H4x series, so substitute that in the above. 🙂

I don't really have much enthusiasm for product rumours/announcement hints any more, unlike a few years back when i found it fascinating. Now i'm content to wait for official announcements & then decide if the gear is of any interest to me. Wasn't there some Canon item under a cloth late last year? did that turn out to be anything?

Yeah, a new bulk document scanner with integrated PDF - no reports yet whether it excited corporate archivists as much as Canon hoped...

Why not? Hasselblad is a competent organisation and a strong brand name that could be utilized much wider than today. They know one or two that can produce excellent optics too.

I'm sure it'll be some boring promo program or something like that. Or maybe they'll introduce a new T/S adapter that will let you tilt the lens so far that the camera can photograph itself.

PS: Whatever it is, I'm sure the Mayas saw it coming.

Gonna have to go with you on this one. Leica has probably stolen some of their market share with the S2. Hassy wants it back.

I'd love a FF digital xpan, however.

Won't be an xpan then. Aspect Ratio is like 1:2.215
