What is the biggest obstruction stopping you from taking photographs?

I oscillate between guitars and cameras. The guitars have the upperhand currently but soon I will once again accept that I am never going to be Jimmy Page . Then I shall return to my Henri Cartier- Bresson fantasy until that too hits the buffers. Let the circle remain unbroken.
Some witty answers here! :D

I'm kinda in the same boat as you Yammerman except mine are classical guitars and basses. I make most of my money as a musician, composer, private teacher and repairman. I do make a small amount of money with my cameras but I kind of like the fact that I am not bound by deadlines.

I just moved to this area not too long ago so I haven't yet taxed the location aspect and I doubt I ever will. My old area in Brooklyn was really quite boring and really didn't offer much in the way of architecture, found artifacts or human subjects. Even if the environment didn't change here, there would still be endless random human interactions to occupy yourself with. Thankfully this area is also rich in architectural variety so I find myself more driven than ever. Today I spent about six hours checking out some areas I haven't been to yet. Part of the fun is doing it on foot because not only do I get some good exercise but I find I come across things I would miss had I just gone to the train and took it home. I haven't been shooting RF that long and I am still getting used to my two lenses so that's another part that is keeping me on my toes but I think that NYC in general keeps the fire lit under my @$$ pretty well year round.

In the end, my main obstruction is, like many others, my profession. I could see that even if my main profession was photography, I might still feel the same way if I couldn't get out and take pics "for me."

Easy to answer, hard to fight:>

My own anti-creative monster which some call Sloth. I find the only way to smash him in the teeth or hold him off is by sticking to as regular a shooting schedule as I can, given that I am merely a working-man hobbyist.

Strangely darkroom printing and film processing are not like this for me.
