So I got a sweet yard sale buy on a Topcon Super D with the 5.8cm 3.5 macro and a junker Soligor 135 2.8 in exakta mount. Then I started looking on goodwill to see what they went for: I assume people buy on goodwill to resell on Ebay. Nutso money for a 25mm f3.5. Nikko money for a 100/2.8... I shall stick to the yard sales

Well you've already used your once in a lifetime yard sale find up. Sorry.

Shopgoodwill brings about 100% higher than prices on eBay - for a no guarantee piece of equipment that was probably donated because it didn't work. Ebay prices are somewhat inflated because the cost of selling is 10~15%, free shipping (nothing is ever free) plus a return guarantee (including postage) for any reason, including seller remorse.

Since Goodwill brought out their latest auction system, there has been a lot more interest by people who seem to have no idea what they are bidding on, or what it might be worth in the real world. I've seen so much stuff bid up to ridiculous amounts that I no longer shop there. Though the system works a lot better now, they still post the worst photos and descriptions, and put tape on everything (especially if it is leather).
