Hi Guys

I like my scanners to be able to scan the entire 35mm frame and a bit more on the edges. I don't like how most scanners actually crop the frame a bit. Can you please tell me what is the maximum scan area for Plustek 7600?

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi, Mark from Plustek here. This is the spec we list on our website: 36.8 x 25.4mm. But practically speaking, when you scan a slide, you also wind up imaging the edges of the slide mount. You really need to crop this black area out because it can mess up the black point on your image. This is especially true if you are using the Auto function or if you manually adjust the histogram and wind up setting the black from the slide mount as the black point.

Slide mounts are denser than most slides!

film area scanned using neg holder?

What are the dimensions of openings in the 35mm negative holder? I'm thinking about getting one of these scanners, but will be scanning mostly b&w negs, not slides. I'm used to carefully positioning each frame that I want to print in a filed out negative holder in an enlarger since I seldom want to print all images, and I suspect the same will be true of scanning. Will I wind up needing to machine a more precisie negative holder for this kind of scanning?

Thank you,
dsymes
