What is the widest lens you used with R-D1?

hi, just get a used R-D1 and would like to know what is the widest lens you used with R-D1 and the result? focus and framing easy?

new to R-D1 so above questions might be a bit lay-man.

Being wide, focus was not an issue, but framing was with the 15mm CV. Worked fine for me.

Ditto on the 15mm CV. I use the 21mm CV external finder with it, since that's the efl on the R-D1. works fine. It's not coupled to the RF, so focusing is a non-issue. The new 15mm is coupled, though.

What's the widest you can frame using the built-in viewfinder?

I'm thinking about the CV 12 mm or 15 mm myself. Is there a good viewfinder for the 12-mm lens?

Here's another question about wider lenses... Well, actually wide normals.

What's the widest you can (pretty) reliably frame with the built-in viewfinder? Is a 25-mm lens too wide for the viewfinder? Obviously the widest lines are for 28 mm and they are pretty near the edges, but I'm wondering if it would be possible to use a 25-mm lens without too many difficulties. Unfortunately, the only way for me to test at the moment is to use my credit card and order a 25-mm lens. That's a bit too expensive. 😀

I tend to throw the 12mm in my bag when I travel with the RD-1. I don't even bother with a finder anymore and just tend to guess-timate. works for me anyway.

Wallo the 25mm is what I have been using in my RD1 as my standard lens. Using the whole of the finder matches the 25 lens pretty well. I wear glasses though and tend to use the 28 framelines and just reckon on getting that little extra around the edges.
I recently got hold of a 28/2 Ultron and have been using that of late. The CV25 is however a little lighter and more compact. Mine is the rangefinder coupled version and could well be up for sale soon but has proved a good match and a very capable lens on the RD1.

I use a russar finder for both 12 and 15mm. With the 12 I get a little extra and the 15 a bit less. Like the 12 a lot! Most use though is the 21mm Kobalux. With a 21mm finder with an extra tape mask.

Thanks, kuvvy, that's good information. I'm thinking about the Zeiss Biogon. Anyway, I won't get to buying one this year. A more affordable wide like the CV 15 could be something new in the bag for this summer.
