This serial number shows up in Hartmut Thiele's book of CZJ lenses as being produced in 1939, mostly in Contax mount, with a note that says some were made in Contaflex mount. I have not seen a lens like this before, assume that it was originally in Contax mount and later hacked into a leica LTM. Any thoughts?

Summar focus mount with the Sonnar hacked into it.

Check out the IR index at F2. DOF to F2. Smooth finish, not serrated like the Summitar.

The J-3 mount is better suited, has correct DOF scale and the barrel screws right in.

So, the auction is for rare and extremely hard to find BS :D. Happens a lot on eBay. Looking at the pics, appears that the rim of the lens is dented and probably will not accept a screw-in filter.

Ya know, this lens might sell at this price, it is pretty at least. It appears to be a real CZJ lens and if the lens conversion was done well, it would likely be a good performer. I say this only because a lot of ZOMZ J3s lenses made from 1957 to 1961 coming outta Ukraine have a buy it now price of about $300.

The filter rings are not too bad to straighten out. I successfully used an expansion type tool to fix the rim of a 1934 5cm F1.5 Sonnar, now takes filters and hoods.
I have a Sonnar "T" very close to the one shown.

I recently mounted a 1952 KMZ J-3 that was on Contax/Kiev mount to LTM using a KMZ focus mount. It has perfect glass and is one of the best J-3's I've owned. Every bit as good as a Wartime Zeiss Sonnar.

Good thing that you had a KMZ mount in LTM, those are getting scarce on eBay. I have a couple of really nice KMZ 1956 J-3s in LTM and one really beat to hell KMZ 1955 in LTM. Saving the 1955 LTM mount just in case I need parts

Ended up selling for $755.00 USD.

I saw this when it was listed and was disappointed to see it falsely advertised by what appears to be a legitimate camera store. I just hope the buyer understood what it was and just wanted it for the convenience/curiosity.

Given the price that Skyllaney gets for LTM converted 5cm F1.5 Sonnars, I'm not surprised.
My conversions would probably get ~$1,000. I would not sell them for that. Compared with the price of having the front and back door replaced on the house, cheap by comparison.

How about just the back door. I would be thrilled if it were only $7-800. Sadly not! ...If you can't tell, this is something currently under way in this household...
