Im new to the Hasselblad V system and just picked up a 500cm. The magnifier has these marks on it. Looks like coating damage perhaps from the folding/unfolding mechanism rubbing on it but not sure. Is this common with these models?
Thanks

I would not say that it is common. Have you tried to clean on the other side? It could be some sort of residue of former condensation etc.

I'll have to look at mine but i don't recall ever seeing that. Looks like a poorly cleaned magnifier lens to me, with the coating possibly damaged or rubbed off.

I would just clean it and use it. I don’t recall mine even being coated.

Okay, I looked at one of my WL finders. The magnifier is not perfectly clean and looks similar. Never noticed it in use.

Yeah, I don't see it when using the magnifier. It's only visible when the light hits it from the side--none issue really. I'm familiar with coating marks because I have some old single coated Zeiss lenses and the damage is very similar.Okay, I looked at one of my WL finders. I guess mine has bits and pieces from multiple production years so maybe some had coatings and others did not. The body is from 1987, back is from 1973, the film advance knob has been changed at some point to the older one without the crank, and the black *T coated 80mm Planar is from 1980. I'm pretty sure the view finder hood is from an earlier model as well.I would just clean it and use it. I don’t recall mine even being coated.
