Hi, all. I recently got a pile of junk off of eBay, and in it was this spool. On the side (mostly faded) it says "Ernst Leitz Wetzlar," and the top of the spool extends out (so its easier to grab). It does not, however, fit my IIIf Black Dial (the extended part won't push back in).

What does this go to?

If it doesn't fit the IIIf, it looks like you have an M3/M2 spool. Better start looking around to find a home for it in an M body! 😀

I found a 40.5mm Nikkor lens cap that went to a 50mm f/2 Nikon RF lens and I was only a few minutes away from buying a camera to match the cap. In the end, I sold the cap with my 2.8 Elmar.

Actually, I think it's out of a FED camera...

See how the FED doesn't have a long spindle for the spool to sit on (unlike in a Leica)? It might go to a FED 1 or FED 2. If so, this spool was subject to the Leicafication process that gives us the wood-grained gold Luftwaffe cameras. C'est la vie. It's not like I bought it for some obscene amount (Came out to, I think, $1 out of the pile-o-crap I bought).

If I'm off the mark, anyone, please let me know.

As far as an M, Phil, I have a Leitz LTM-M adapter for a 35 or 135mm lens, so I guess I have an excuse anyway, hehe. But apparently I need to buy a FED, too. Grr... 🙂
