So I have this photo I want to print out in 50 by 70 cm size. Would it look cooler if I edited it a bit and added white borders to it and then framed it? Or buy larger, white bordered frames and put the unedited image in them? What say ye? Here be the pics!

or

Cannot decide between the two. Grrnh.
EDIT: Hehe, just realised the browser will show the second pic against a white background. Not very bright of me to add the second picture after all.
Well, you get my drift anyway...

I generally prefer a largish white window matte flush against the image, then a dark wood (black, walnut, charcoal, etc.) frame with b&w photographs.

Just out of curiosity, what is it?

Yeah, that does it for clear lines and emphasises the B&W image. Would be eye-capturing. BTW, I wished they did 50x75 cm prints...that would keep the 3:2 aspect ratio intact. With 50x70 it changes noticeably. Gotta keep looking for a proper company that does prints in sizes what I need.

It is a pair of shoes tied together by the laces and thrown on the phone cables... A mystery photo, it is!

Yes, there are lots of shoes hanging from power lines in the US, too!

What about resizing the photo to 46.5 x 70 cm? (Not quite exact but a little closer to 3:2) I don't know what standard metric size papers are but I will typically size my photos to the long dimension of the paper and let the short side be what it is. I do sometimes get odd amounts of blank paper around the edges but I then have the mat cut accordingly.POSTI-Tuomo said:Yeah, that does it for clear lines and emphasises the B&W image. Yeah, actually I went to this store that offers large size prints and asked them about this. Height definitely is the limiting factor but length can be virtually anything up to 30 meters (!). Their online ordering program only offers some pre-set sizes and doesn't mention anything about this option though. Better to ask real life persons than just believe what a program says.

The best camera is one that still works!

Good grief ... they're all over the place here too ... it started a year or so ago?

That particular pair of shoes has been hanging up there for who knows how many years. It always bothered me, to the point I had to take a photo of it. Doesn't bug me anymore! What an odd phenomenon... I wonder who was the first one to cast shoes up on powerlines?
