Hi there,
I'm fed up with photoshopping on my cheap/crappy laptop screen and would like to buy something decent - but I don't do colour (for colour, I take slides). My question is whether monitors that handle colour well are also going to represent grey tones and contrast better than an average monitor?
Cheers
Filip

My Mac which has a LCD screen displays B&W fine. I also have a Linux machine with LCD screen which is just as good as the Mac.

Does anyone have experience with the i-mac monitor for B&W photo ? brightness, contrast, details etc etc ? I'm considering after many years of pc to go back to mac ...but some doubts

PS because of my age I can add that after having had the "historical" apple 2 I was owner of the first mac, 128 K, no hard disk...the old pioneristic age of computers...

And get a colorvision spider or something like that! Most LCDs are too cold.

For B&W only get a second hand Eizo 20" + ... the tube version, no LCD produces the levels of grey and black these old Eizo's do.

I have one which I only use for my B6W work .... beats the "pixels" out of any Apple or Dell... or Eizo LCD for that matter .... (I also own an apple 23" and an Eizo lcd)

Just sample it and you will know what I mean
