What Leica M is this ?

If the guy that bought it also asked this question than he must be a blind man:

hi, thanks for listing this lovely camera. i have the following questions: a. is there a rangerfinder window ? is it rangefinder coupled. (besides the viewfinder, is there a third window) b. you mentioned that the slow speed is a bit off ? is this correct ? thanks

Seems to me it was sold to a newbie. Lets see who's turning up here in the next week 😉

This either was an M1 that had M2 parts fitted later or an M2 that got an M1 allocated serial number and later went back to the factory to have the button rewind changed to a lever rewind. Common upgrade that wasn't too expensive either. Apparently a lot of people kept pressing the rewind button involuntarily, some even mistook it for a shutter release, the word goes.

yeah i did pull the trigger...

and yes, i did ask those newbie questions.

To be a contrarian about this: This is a Clean Leica with a m1 top-plate + m2 levers and framelines + m3 lugs and lens release button.

Assuming the thing works out it will be my to-use camera. If it doesn't work out because of inaccurate description or parts that don't work, then a seller with 96% will be hard pressed to make it good, don't you think ?

No offense but a seller with a terrible feedback rating, a bad description and who doesnt know much is not exactly a good buy. So no I don't think he will want to make good on it.

The general consensus was that it was a built from parts camera based off an M3 in the other thread.

I spoke to the seller last week while the old thread was still up and he insisted it was a factory misprint even though all the evidence points to a factory re-fit which were very common. He asked a few times if I would do the "buy it now" and I just ignored it. The negative feedback he got was bad and mostly quite recent.
Good luck with the camera, I hope everything works out!
