What Lenses to Toss?

I own four 35's for my Leicas and all are the same speed. All are LTM and I have no plans to dispose of any of them. I like them all.

If I use two bodies, one with B&W and one with color, I can put a 35 on each. I can't do that if I only have one 35.

Keep all of the lenses you presently have unless it's a financial issue. Barring another depression it's unlikely that your lenses will ever be worth less and the chances are that each will increase in value.

Just another point of view.

The simple answer is to ask yourself which lenses you use over the course of 6 months to a year. If you haven't used a lens in that period of time, then it is probably superfluous to your unique shooting. If at a later date, your shooting changes and you really need a different lens, then get it.

But just to keep a lens, because it is the standard for portraits or landscapes, ect., even though you don't shoot these types of things, is a bit of waste.

But if the lens actually fills a need -- you actually use it and no other lens can substitute, no matter how little it is used -- then you should probably keep it. We are talking actual use; not hypothetical use.

Of course, I don't follow my own advise.
