What light meter do you carry with your LTM?

Sunny-16 if it's obvious, voigtlander VC-II most often with the Canon-P. Looks almost like it belongs there.

I have a few larger meters that do get used, but those are my most common with 35mm cameras that need an external meter.

I use a sekonic L-398. But I haven't needed it recently, working without a meter really isn't that hard.

My 1934 Leica III kit contains a mid-1960's Toshiba "linear" CdS meter... vfairly compact for a hand-held, and similar in form and function to a Gossen Luna-Pilot.

My other "good" meter is a 1960's Gossen Luna-Six. version 1.

I have dozens of other meters - several Weston bakelite "bricks", in varying forms of function, Weston Master I, II, III, IV, V... several old Seikonics of varying models, the old metal GE DWY meters, the GE PR-1 (seem to be pretty reliable), several shoe-mount meters ( Walz, Leitz, etc) - all of them dead, couple of Norwood "Directors", and a Soligor Spot-meter.

Generally, when I'm shooting with my Barnack, I'll get a baseline reading from the meter, then use my head until the light or location changes.

I tested it against my Gossen DigiPro F, and it was spot on as an incident meter. I like to keep it minimal as far as equipment goes, and this does the job pretty well.

What light meter do I carry with my LTM?

Mostly, the one between my ears. With negative film; and a modest amount of experience (a year or two sufficed); and erring always on the side of exposure when I'm not sure; it's worked pretty well for the last 40 years or so.

Never understood (or believed in) 'sunny 16', though.

Welcome Jose and Congratulations on finding such a wonderful wife.

I used a Weston V with my FED-2 and while I was using color print film the exposures were excellent, never tried any other film. Weston meters are neat and really look the part.

My Nikon F will be arriving soon and I will have to make the same decision as you, except the F doesn't have a hot shoe to mount a meter on!

As long as the meter is accurate for B&W work I'll be happy and I might even consider using just my brain and see how that works for me.

I've got two old Westons and a Leica meter that was attached to the M3.
Is it legitimate to test these against a present day camera like a D7000 to see how accurate they are?

As long as you are metering the same way ... I guess the D7000 has some very fancy metering inside.

Go try it and see what happens, we will all wait patiently while you do !
