I have a wonderful canon 85mm f2 Serenar that I am dying to try on my R3M (actually acquired the Serenar months before by Xmas gift R3M - gotta love it when a gamble pays off). 😀

The question is, however, what adapter to get and where to get it?

Do I need one specific to an 85mm lens?

Thanks!

Get the VC or Leica brand if you can. I tried the off brands and had a problem. I don't think they're machined to the same tolerances. I bought my VC at the Photo Village as I live in New York and they are a sponsor. Stu

You can decide If you get one for 90mm lenses or 75mm lenses, so you can decide which framelines to use. (Tho I admit I don't know if the Voightlanders automatically select framlines for you... so it may be a non-issue).

Buy a 28/90mm adapter. You have manually set frames on your R3m so it doesn't matter which one.

However, by taking a bit of metal off the 28/90 you can convert it to a 50 or 35 adapter if you ever decide to sell it on or get yourself a M-body/Hexar. If you get a 50mm frame adapter you can only convert it to 35 and if you get a 35 then you can't convert it to anything easily.

As for the 85mm - use your 90mm frameline, that's what I used to do with my 85/2 Jupiter and R2a/R2m.

I had planned to use the 90mm framelines. But, where did you get you adapter?

Thanks!

P.S. Has anyone used the 85mm Serenar? Any comments?
