What is different about the "Limited Edition" ZIs from the regular run of ZIs? Were they the first ones made, was there something different on the production line, or was something else different other than the leather pouch and the Limited Edition designation?

They'll automagically be more valuable to non-photographer collectors?

Seriously, though, I don't know. I own one and am not sure why it would be any different from the non-limited variety other than the words "Limited Edition" stamped on its top. Also, upon registration with Hasselblad they'll send you a commemorative crystal something-or-other paperweight with a 3D rendering of the Ikon embedded. Come to think of it, I never received my crystal paperweight. I demand a refund!

Whatever, I'm very happy with the camera.

Surely you mean Zeiss and not Hasselblad?

Hasselblad USA was the Z-I importer at the time, and looks to be the service/repair contractor to come.

Indeed not. Witness:

For the non-lmited edition Ikons, and some of the limited edition Ikons, it would appear Hasselblad is not the one to handle the warranty. As for me, hopefully I'll not have to find out how well Zeiss' arrangement with Hasselblad USA works (worked) in practice. Although I did get a nice letter from Hasselblad a couple of weks ago confirming my registration. I suppose it was just by chance that I got an Ikon that was distributed by Hasselblad USA.

I think maybe they were expecting the body to bomb by the time it came out, with Contax going under and the Rollei not doing anything? 'Limited Edition' might have been their out if they didn't sell enough.

Glad they were wrong!
