Gawd, this place is so 5 seconds ago.

Says the guy who just cheerfully ordered a certified pre-owned Nook Color for the grand total of $143.44 shipped, incl. tax. It does what I need, half the time I don't have decent wireless voice service where I am--never mind data--and the day I hold up a 10 inch tablet in front of me to take a photo, somebody please kick me in the shin and scream "what is wrong with you?"

I'm ordering one. It will replace my MacBook Air in every way I can think of - I didn't care for the resolution of the first two generations, they gave me a headache reading text/websites (whereas I can read for 30 minutes at a time on my iPhone 4s w/ no issues).

Still use my old e-ink Kindle for reading most of the time, though.

I have to admit, it is rather funny watching someone try to capture video or photos on their iPad, outside and with too much glare to see what they are trying to capture.

IPad 3? Who gives a rats? I will have one eventually, but there is no need for it at this time. HD screen doesn't excite me anyway. I reckon it will take up just as much room in the landfill as the IPad 2... so no rush for me.

That screen will make a big difference for editing photos... And they put a real camera in it, so I'll have to figure out what Mattebox for iPad looks like.

If I ever had the desire to buy a tablet, I'd just get an amazon fire. I doubt the ipad offers the same value for money

During the Christmas I helped my mother shop for my Dad and we tested this theory.... It's Complete BS.

The iPad is a spaceship compared to the Kindle Fire rubber raft.

I own neither at the moment. And, you should take my words in consideration of need and dollars available.
With the Spaceship you can go to Jupiter for $500. With the rubber raft you can get across the pond for $200.
If you only need to get across the pond you have a quandary.
Which is actually the better value?

Nope...

Nope...

Waiting for the iPad 12 in the fall 2012
Rumored to be a graphics card and chip embedded right behind your dominant eye, controlled by scratching your index finger next to the dominant eye. Taps into your brain. Storage limited to the % of brain we actually use. Most won't be able to store much over 2-3 Gb's.

In all honesty, I really think about this when I look at all the digital products we just burn through year after year. Never mind the fact that they are all using various non-renewable resources like rare earth minerals etc.

My iPhone 3GS (two and a half years old) just gave up in January. What can I do with it now? Nothing. It's sitting in a drawer and I bought a 4S. It never did work properly after the iOS 5 update.

i still have the ipad original and have been waiting for the new one...i skipped the ipad2 just cause.

this one looks good...i love my ipad...it does so much, is so convenient, i can type way faster on it than my home keyboard...has instant, constant contact with the net, email...great display for photos...my blog looks fantastic...and the new ipad will be even better for that.
and there are some great photo editing apps too!

I got the original mostly to read books on, but the screen resolution was inadequate for me, so I sold it. This should really fit the bill. Not sure it's a great use of 500 bucks right now but perhaps down the line a bit.

iPhoto looks great!
