What percentage do you share?

So, I'm wondering, what percentage of your shots do you post here/to flickr/to your blog etc? I've noticed that I post a tiny percentage of my shots, only the pictures I think have 'something'. My flickr for example has 38 pictures on it, and I'll be deleting a fair few of them later as I'm not sure about them. My Aperture library has well over a thousand shots in it, so really I post bugger all.

What got me thinking about this was that I let my girlfriend and house mate look through my library and they picked out photos they really liked which I had originally thought were poor. I wondered about posting many more pictures, or even all of them, to get more insight into what people like in my work. But then I thought I'd flood people with my stuff and they'd just not bother to look at any of it.

So I'm wondering, what percentage do you post to get a good feeling of how people appreciate your style?

I'm not sure I have a "real" best, sometimes I just post to share my excitement for something going on.. of course I try to select some of the pictures among the topic asked, so I'd say 50-50 more or less (it could be very choosy, but in the end I often post silly things)

I have 6000 photos on my flickr for friends and family and around 180 photos for anyone who strolls by the page.

I try not to post total rubbish but sometimes they slip through because I've posted them too quickly without looking at them properly and later they get deleted. Other pictures may be rubbish but I still like something about them and they tend to stay in the gallery.

Percentage wise i've no idea but it's a tiny amount, due mainly to time constraints.

My family and friends think I'm a heck of a photographer mainly because I rarely show 'em anything but what I consider to be my best. Percentage wise, I share maybe 5% or a bit more.
"Edit ruthlessly" is my practice. Occasionally I have shared some photos here in the forums that I wasn't sure of for one reason or another but generally, if I'm not pleased with a shot, it is never seen again.

The scale on the poll is all wrong. With digital, I get 3 or 4 frames a week that I really like, with film in the studio, I get 8-10 frames a month that will make it to the book.

I have no idea. These days I'm mostly shooting as illustrations for my blog, so I'm getting a fairly high percentage, but I wouldn't call all of them great photos. Together with the often tongue-in-cheek text they work well. I'd guess that I get about five or six "situations" per roll, and I pick the best photo from each. Typically about 2-3 frames per roll. I consider this a lot, since I'm happy with a few keepers per year, but like you said, people sometimes like what I don't consider special and vice versa.

Less than 5%. My flickr is private only and for the rest one a day on my blog usually. That makes about 300 pictures posted a year.

Let's see: I probably average shooting 4 rolls a week year around, half 120 & half 35mm. I have been doing it for about six years. I have about 90 photos on my website. Do the math..................

It is about .0025 or 1/4%. I honestly don't believe anyone has real interest in the other 29,900 images.

I just can't think of anyone, alive or dead, that I would like to see much more than their top 100 photos. That includes people like HCB, Arbus, Winogrand, Frank, Friedlander. So why would I believe anyone wants to see more than 100 of mine?
