what R-D1 settings do you use for color and film ?

Hi,

i am a newbie in this most excellent R-D1,
i am curious to find out what are your default film and color settings ?

eg. i have been using Film 1 (low saturation) for color and Film 3 for B&W. The contrast is a bit much in B&W but has a different effect.

Shoot RAW so don't bother with the film settings (it'll be on either the default or whatever the previous owner had it set to) but strangely I do set the colour mode to B&W even though I keep the screen hidden and hardly ever flip it out, there's just something in my head that says because images will end up b&w I should have camera set to b&w!

I'd probably give jpegs a shot but I've heard the camera makes really really noisy jpegs so haven't bothered. Raw files out of the R-D1 aren't exactly huge anyway.
 
I like the jpg-engine of the R-D1. It delivers very good
results. Each photo I've shown here is a jpg out of cam,
why should I unnecessarily complicate it (life is too short
to process raw 😉).

My settings (I think they are "by default"):
Film1:
EdgeEnhance=2
Saturation=3
Tint=3
Contrast=2
NR=1

Film2:
EE=4
Sat=4
Tint=3
Con=4
NR=1

Film3:
EE=3
Sat=3
Tint=3
Con=3
NR=5

processing raw can be short & sweet, does not have to be complicated and long...a little effort into your images can go a long way...rd1 files are so small they load quickly onto pse8...
 
When I shoot RAW, Import to LR3>edit a copy in SEP>apply preset>tweak>save back to LR3>export as required.

If I shot jpeg, Import to LR3>edit a copy in SE>apply preset>tweak>save back to LR3>export as required.

No jpeg engine will do what I want with my files (closest I have gotten was the high contrast b&w creative mode in the Sony NEX and they still needed work and were lacking in other ways) so I'll be editing in SEP anyway.
