People don`t seem to pay attention very well ~ wake up folks!!!!
This is a REPLICA not a Leitz one and they normally sell on evilbay for like $20
Tom
PS: I know where some of these are ORIGINAL LEITZ for like $150 with the original knife and pouch! (that`s still TOO MUCH money for this little thing - a good pair of scissors works just as good!)

The best camera is one that still works!
There's something seriously strange going on here ... a day to go and 33 bids. When you have a look at the bidding history it gets even weirder!

I bought 2 of the exact same items for $ 12.00 each I think.. The seller had 96 0f them. the seller of this one is just following P T Barnems rule about suckers " there is one born every min." and I would suspect that a lot of the "bidders" are shill's. Dave

Bizarre. And I really don't see the point of these even for $20. It's so easy to eye ball (or count sprocket holes) before cutting the leader, why carry round yet another device?

I just reported the item as being a schill bidding suspect. Maybe they'll look into it ... who knows?

At least the seller is straight-up about its being a copy - even though he could have made that statement a bit more prominent! AFAIG, I have one of them, too, and find it worth the trouble to use it to trim leaders. I usually do a bunch of rolls at a time when it is convenient. With an Xacto knife, it's a piece of cake, and I haven't messed one up yet.

sorry for my ignorance but what is "shill" bidding?

Shill bidding is an air bid. A bid fabricated by the seller or one of the seller's buddies to artificially raise the price. I saw this done by a dishonest auctioneer at a real estate auction once.

from the Wikipedia article on 'shill':
Shills, or "potted plants", are sometimes employed in auctions. Driving prices up with phony bids, they seek to provoke a bidding war among other participants. Often they are told by the seller precisely how high to bid, as the seller actually pays the price (to himself, of course) if the item does not sell, losing only the auction fees.

BTW, Lakesuwa has riased the price to $35... as the stock goes down (77 currently available) the price seems to go up. I have considered buying one of these off and on, but the last time I looked (maybe a year ago???) the price was around $18.
