What settings do you use for Vuescan (Film scanning)

Hi,

I gotten myself a Canon 8800f recently for film scanning, I am curious to find out what settings do you use for Vuescan ?

a. DPI for Scans ( I currently use 2400)

b. Do you turn on Shaprness ?

c. Do you use multi-pass scanning ?

I tried 4800 and 2400, single and multipass scanning but the difference was very slight, if any.

I use my Canon 8800F for scanning medium format film.

Pixels Per Inch, normally 1200ppi, sometimes 2400ppi. However i think the "real" optical resolution is far below 2400ppi.

I never turn on Sharpness in a Scanner programm because i find it far easier to do that in Photoshop. However i turn on most of the time the Infrared Dust Removal in "light"-setting.

I never used Multipass scanning. Must give that a try once on a dense film. One of the purposes of multipass is to eliminate the effect of sensor noise which is most noticeable when little light reaches the sensor.
