the fuji 27 pancake lens, that is.

seems like 5 lenses are just too much for me and i want to get the 90 someday...that would be 6 lenses if i keep the 27...and what about the 23...not used it since i got the 16...oh lord that 16 is just a fine lens and now even more handsome with it's new metal fuji hood.
my 27 is only months old...i like it's tiny size but i'm not afraid of bigger lenses and the new 35 is smallish and i think a good replacement for the 27...it could end up being my edc lens. or maybe the 23 might be a great edc lens...
i really should not ruminate after taking my melatonin...

is the melatonin a regular thing? i heard that stuff should only be used occasionally when traveling or something....

anyhow, i'd sell the 27 and 23. the reason to keep gear should be really obvious.

i take it every night...my doc uses it too and suggested it to me...i sleep very poorly and this stuff helps.

i'm afraid to sell the 23 in case i ever feel the need to use a 35 fov again...i almost always have had a 35 fov lens.

Keep the 27. Keep it because there will be a beautiful little ILC Fuji camera coming along some time soon... something like a mini-XPro1. And it'll be perfect with the 27.. the all-time best all-rounder. Unless,of course, like me, you have the X100T sitting around nagging you to take it out for a walk. 🙂 Anyway, keep the 27... it'll find its place sooner or later.

Hi Joe
My recommendation is to sell it.... just let it fly.

I let my 27 go last week. The image quality from this lens is indisputably excellent. It's a winner for sure.
That said, there are several reasons I let it go.
Personally, I won't be tempted to try it again. It just was not a fit.

1. It could not be my everyday lens.
a. minimum focus was not close enough
b. maximum aperture was not large enough

2. I mostly like the 50mm equiv. FOV
There is no way around this one. The XF35 is my main lens.

3. It was in the end too small.
I manual focus more often than others maybe. The ring was too small for me. Even on the XA1.
I will likely get the 2/35 for the xa1 at some point.

Best!

Sell it !!
even though I liked it at the time, it was my only fuji lens it does not compare

the 35 f2 is Brilliant... just got it !
it's Fast, sooo Fast Blows my mind
beautifully Sharp
and You can Focus with it , YAY
(don't mind my digital Ignorance, can't remember if you could focus with the 27 but the 35 is Supreme)

are you shooting with a fuji these days?

Blasphemy.... 😱
my new motto
Leica =Film , Fuji =Digi... hehehe

Yes, have the xe1 with the 35 f2
I'm amazed how fast it shoots ...😛 😀

Haha, great combination, I've gone the exact same way now... also a xe1, but in my case with the 18 f2 😉

I'm mighty tempted by the 35 f2... but I'm not really a 50mm equivalent person (and I've got a 35mm Nokton + Leica to Fuji adapter)

back to the thread:

I'm new to Fuji and I've never seen the 27mm in person and never used it. As I bought my 18mm, I thought about both lenses... but I figured out that the 18mm is a better fit because of the faster aperture and the wider fov (as I'm most comfortable with 21mm to 35mm lenses on Leicas).

Well, sell it and go full 23mm or 35mm 😉 keep it simple, the 27mm is too similar in fov to both and doesn't really offer that much in comparison besides the tiny size.

if I had either the XF35 or 23 and the 27/2.8, I'd sell the 27, joe. simple, too close to the others and 2 stops slower (size is not so important to me with my Fuji stuff).

Joe,

What gives? I thought you were retired. Did you win Lotto 649? 😇

Oh Helen ... I am glad I am back because I have missed you so much! I've never had much of an urge to come to NYC, but between you and the Fuji 35/2 ...

I think the 27/2.8 is redundant now that the 35/2 is out.

The 27 is compact and sort of turns the XE-1/2 or even the X-Pro1 into an X100 (purpose wise). At 18 to 35 mm focal lengths with APS-C I usually use f 2.8 as the widest aperture anyway. However the absence of an aperture ring bothered me.

The 35/2 is very nice. Despite the above-average amount of software barrel-distortion correction, the lens hits all its marks. I hope Fujifilm continues to release smaller, slower versions of its prime lenses (especially the 16mm lens).
