What the HELL is wrong with the search function on this forum?

I type in the following "Voigtlander lens review 28mm ultron f2" and get a message to the effect that this search term is too short and needs at least 3 words - when clearly there are double that in the string. Then it refuses to let me search again for 30 seconds. Every permutaion of search terms I try gives the same error message - apart from the bloody error message that says I have to wait another 30 seconds. I am annoyed in case you do not notice.

It certainly seems you didn't have a Zen moment there.. First count to ten, then fire up Google (type slowly or you'll have to count to ten again), and dig into RFF from there. Enlightenment awaits you..

I think you'll find it's the 'f2' being under the minimum word length (3) that's the problem not the number of words. :)

its a real bugger because there a lot of search terms that are only two chars long. But if it wasn't that way the search would consume masses more cpu and database accesses which would slow the whole forum down (even more than it already is).

Bookmarklets to the rescue.

Bookmarklets to the rescue.

I know some RFF members have created bookmarklets to give the forums the search functionality it natively lacks.

Here are the bookmarklets I created, which include searches for the forums, the classifieds, and the gallery.

The search works for me.
