The Ikon is fairly well built, and is so much better than the Cosina-built Bessas in terms of feel. It lacks the Leica heft, but then you can carry a heavier lens
Joking aside, the viewfinder is awesome, the feel of it is something you can get used to, and from my experience fairly reliable mechanically/electronically except when the battery goes. (But I probably wouldn't be shooting an M7 if its meter runs dead either.)
I had thought about getting a Bessa as a backup, but held it and didn't connect with me. I also looked at used (user grade) M6s and M7s, and these were not cheap. So next chance I get, I would get another Ikon.

As far as I'm concerned, the M9 is the model; everything else is small refinement or a variation of a modern "digital RF".
Autofocus, AE, mounts and electronic viewfinders are (much more) simple design options, once everything is (full-sized) sensor-based. (SLRs will die - why have a mechanical kludge if you can get better optics and view directly from the sensor?)
It's the controls that matter. I just want a digital M3... simple, full manual control. The M9 is pretty much that.

It does however illustrate that there is still an appetite for a compact rangefinder-style digital.
With these numbers? I don't think so. Fewer than use film have chimed in, and look how doomed that market is.

I don't think there is a market for it, but I would love a micro 4/3 camera with a rangefinder--sort of like a digital Olympus XA.

Perhaps. WHo knows? 16,000 views from the main thread seems to indicate some enthusiasm altho, as I mentioned before, this means either there's a huge market, or else a small number of obsessive, intenet-addicted timewasters!

Some of whom check multiple times to check the reaction from other obsessive, intenet-addicted timewasters.
Cheers,

What does it mean to me? Well it means that people on this forum like to talk bollocks about the unknown, myself included although most of my posts on the topic were somewhat tongue in cheek as were many other peoples posts. That's web forums for you.
