if you upload a picture from a digital camera all the info is extracted from the EXIF. If you need to change the info or add it click the edit button. All of that information is searchable.
Click on the lens, camera, focal length etc ... of an image and you get those matching. Or click on the magnifying glass on the top header of a gallery page to get the search options.
Sorry but... I'm a film user, so no EXIF data. How do I enter EXIF data for a scanned film image?
Take this image, for example, uploaded today
https://www.rangefinderforum.com/services/photo/2000140. Below the image I see these fields which I want to populate. I couldn't see any way to populate them at the time of upload, and I can't find how to populate them after upload:

EXIF data
If I click on "LENS MODEL NOT SET" I get a display of all photographs where the lens model has not been set. Ditto for the fields marked "not recorded".
I can look at the EXIF data and see my keywords, but this isn't helpful, the camera/lens/film data needs to be in the proper fields shown above so they can be searched, and so anyone looking at my photos can see what camera/lens/film I used.
Here's the EXIF data that was carried over from my import:
