Hmm, it does look pretty small. Could that be a flash extension on top? Probably not. He seems to be sighting underneath it. Maybe it's part of the viewfinder?

He's sighting to the side through an early leica (II? or III? - I can't tell if there is a ledge under the wind knob) with a vario finder and what appears to be a short (35mm? lens, or collapsed elmar 50)

Looks like a Leica II with a black VIDOM finder. The lens is probably a 35mm Elmar, judging by its size. I'm guessing 35mm because the VIDOM had a built-in 35mm frame.
 
this whole thread is right out of the J. Peterman catalog. I'm not sure if I mean the real J. Peterman or the Seinfeldian fictionalized version. however, HCB, did lead kind of a J. Peterman lifestyle.

Gosh, I just kept wondering what brand shirt that is! That's just so classical, I'd like a stack of those...!
