Deciding what to do, with my SLR's.

Right now, using my F3HP [with out the MD4 for now] with 24/F2.8 and the 28/F2.8. [not using my 85/F1.4]. I will not part with my F3HP as it is my favourite camera and love everything about it, plus it had a full CLA in Jan. 07.

Canon EOS 10s with a 35-135 USM F4.0/F5.6 with the GR-60 grip. [not using this camera I have had this camera since new. It is in great shape. It is still working has lots of life in it.

Canon F1N / AE finder - bought recently - needs a CLA, as the shutters speeds are off, as expected. Very clean and has a late serial number. I do not have a FD lens for it. It looks cool, no doubt about it.

Should I sell the EOS 10s and use the cash for the CLA on the F1N and get a 50mm lens or other lens?

Should I sell the F1N and the zoom 35-135 EF lens and put the cash into a 28mm F1.8 USM EF lens for the EOS 10s, as I really not liking the zoom any more?

Should I sell the EOS 10s and the F1N, and just get another F3HP or get a 50mm lens? I really do not think I would use the 50mm as I am a wide guy. So gettin a 50 is just gettin something for the sake of gettin something. I will not do that. But another F3HP is very tempting. Maybe a get a 20mm?

I am a SLR guy, through and through. I am not interested in digital, nor do I want to step into a rangefinder, as I love my F3HP and it works great and I love the results I get shootin chrome. Plus I use 'aperture priority' quite a bit.

I only ask here in RFF as I like this forum [read daily] and I have gottin to know a few people here and I respect and value everyone's opinion. So there you have it. What would you do?

thank you

Get another F3HP and the 20mm. I may be biased as I am not a Canon fan however, it makes sense to be able to use lens and accessories in a system rather than have resources scattered among to many brands.

If you feel you need another SLR, go with another F3HP or better yet a F3P!

I've always loved Nikon cameras and glass. For what ever reason only one Canon ever felt good in my hands, the EF. The glass of that era never felt as well built.

Having multiple mounts for SLR just does not feel right. I have enough trouble justifying having a Nikon S mount system and a Leica M system. Great Nikon glass is reasonably priced these days.

Sell both Canons, get another body (the F3 Professional or a F3T) and some great glass!

Keep the F1N, it's a grand camera/system and Canon FL and FD glass can be wonderful, especially the 'L' type, such as 85 1.2L.

The fact that you can pattern the meter for center-weight average, selective-area or spot readings by changing focus screens is very nice and a reliable mechanical shutter if the battery fails is a big plus. With the AE head, you have an aperture priority camera and put on a drive and you've got shutter speed priority ability. The camera is a monster workhorse with a truly super-duper selection of lenses and accessories behind it.

After some thinkin this evening, I am just going to look for either a 20mm or another F3HP. My EOS, I will keep and find a buyer for it later on. The F1N, I will keep on the book shelf as it looks cool! I guess that being in the third world for a long time here [on my 4th year here], going a little stair crazy, I just wanted to buy something and have self satisfaction.

I'd say keep the F1N, sell the EOS & get yourself a nice Canon 50/1.4. Exquisite combination. Only thing better in FD land is a T90 with that same 50. If you want to try out that F1N, I have a 50/1.8 you can have. Just PM me your snail mail addy.

I can, however, see the logic in staying with one mount. If I did, though, it would have to be FD :)

Canonista-ly yours,

William

I'd invest in one mount only and since the F3 is a classic, I'd dump everything else and get a 20 and maybe a 35?
