What to expect from the new Bessa's Fujinon Lens?

Plasmat designs come out of computers. You don't need a blueprint. You just need really good execution, and that is the difference between good lenses and really good lenses.

Would it not be in everybody's interest when Fuji gave Cosina the blueprint's of one of its Plasmats as used on other Fuji MF's and have it converted to 80 mm focal length ? I do not recall any MF lens designs by Cosina, at least not recent.

A Fuji 645 60mm will cover a similar angle in 80mm shape on a 56x75 mm frame.

A matter of speech, blueprints no longer exist and printed technical drawings lost their place in manufacturing as well. For the rest I agree.

Sometimes there's a jewel in the batches of less well executed lenses, the opposite happens too. That diffuses the user's reviews so much, the lucky ones write and the unlucky ones write, both not covering reality.

No, not really. Could be worded better in the light of day but Konica was never in the same ballpark with Cosina, much less Nikon or Canon. Decent lenses, but nowhere near to the same level in my experiances. I never used a hexanon that I thought was worth the hype. OTOH, lots of folks do think they are.

Interesting, which hexanon lens(es) did you try?

I have some Konica AR Hexanon lenses that are out-of-this-world optic-wise. And yes, I am comparing it to Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Minolta and Pentax.

Have not tried the M-mount yet, but that's because I don't have the chance yet :)

Added some thread-relevant stuff:

I wonder why the lens on this folder isn't Fuji's. Did Cosina have a prior experience designing and producing an MF lens?

I know Fuji's big lenses are excellent, I guess we'll see if Cosina is up to the task, won't we?

The lens should deliver equivalent to these cameras

And used properly I would put these Fuji lenses up to very high standards, competitive with any MF lens in the market. I am a confirmed Fuji user, and have used many other makes... Mamiya, Pentax, Hasselblad, Bronica... etc.

Fuji lenses have delivered at the top end of all the IQ of any I have used.

This is my current MF collection and I expect to add the new folder and buy back my recently rebuilt GS645 sold here and currently listed for sale. Frank Marshman worked his particular magic on the GS645, including a new bellows.

Oops... one of my fuji digitals.. the finepix e900 made it into this pic. The picture was taken with my other digital camera, a Fuji Finepix e550.
