We're planning a days outing to the zoo tomorrow with the kids. I plan on using only my M6 with a 50 & 28, trying to keep it simple and light. The wife O.T.O.H. feels that I should take along the E1 with a zoom to 'get closer'. While I've done so in the past, the main reason for going with an M6 is less is more. Asking her if she would carry the E1 kit, "no" is her response.

As for past 'close-ups' at previous zoo trips, none are on display. They all sit on a HD or backup storage.😱

What would you do in this situation?

Depends on your focus for shooting for the day - if it's family snaps and shots of zoo patrons street style, the M6 is fine. If it's animals with the occaisional family snap, the E1 and a longer lens, say 80-200 eqivalent. When I go to the zoo, I never take a "kit" because it's a hassle; just my D3 and 80-200 f2.8 and I'm good in almost any light/situation.

Keep it simple and light...and by that I mean take the Zoom...
Are you kidding...??? Shooting a 50 & 28 at the Zoo...those shots of the elephants are going to look like...........well, they're going to look small...
It's a family outing not an artistic adventure...plus you want to keep the Misses happy...
