I recently bought a LEICA SUMMICRON-M 50 f/2. Can you tell me what version this would be?
Also, that's a 52.2mm Summicron pictured 😛
version five (V)
BTW even you are right the lens barrel still says 1:2/50. Also BTW I love my Version 5 lens.Well spotted but we really need the serial number...
Just looked at my Type 5 and it's also 52.2mm so if I say "snap" do I win it?

Why are they all 22's?

The numbers vary from lens to lens. I had a 90 Tele-Elmar that was 00, indicating it was exactly 90mm in focal length. The 35 Summicron was marked 05 so it was actually 35.05mm. It's a Leica thing to let you know they are checking the lenses before they ship them.
Yes, I think it's a version V also. I think so because it has the milled focusing ring, which is common to both the Version III and V; but the one shown looks like it has a pull-out hood, which neither the Version III nor IV have. And the IV had a focusing tab, and no milled ring. So I think it's a V.
The small numbers next to th M mark (22) is added to the focal length to give you the true focal length of the lens.

FWIW, I just thought it strange that all the ones we've mentioned and the ones on the links were marked "22" and nothing else. Over the years/decades I've seen a lot of them on various lenses of mine and they've all varied until now. and all the V5...
