OK,
who knows what camera this lens was made for?
Vintage about 1905.

Comparison shot side by side a Leitz 50/2 Summitar.

Thanks
Stephen

Nice site! It makes me want to get my 5x7 E&HT Anthony ready for use again. I haven't used it since the early 1970's. I even found a vintage wooden tripod to use with it and my quarter plate Graflex SLR.

This is an ususual Petzval according to the Vade Mecum, designed by Voigtlaender with the rear group being 2 cemented elements instead of air spaced. In this size the coverage would be miniscule as it only had a 22 degree angle of view. The VM notes that in the early 1900's when cine were first being made this was one of the lenses they used because of it's great speed. My guess is at 8cm this may well have been used on 35mm cine 100 years ago.

8cm isn't a LF lens, 5x7" or something. It's much too short. Even less when considered to be a "portrait lens" (maybe 28-30° angle). What's the screwmount diameter?
Could it be a lens for the Ernemann camera? (but it looks more like ~1880 than 1920)

However, S/N 88,611 referrs to 1907 according to THIS list.
