They look like the barrels from $nit lenses as well, everyone will know that you're a sucker if you have an E series Nikkor barrel on your wrist.

No doubt, especially the well-brassed ones of earlier vintage.

Those look pretty awful in my opinion, but I must say that optically, the Series-E 50mm f1.8 is a pretty nice little lens!
