Leica LTM What would be a fair offer?

Just wondering, Is the Jena that much better than a good J 12. I have a J12 that is a great lens. I've seem Russian copies of Elmars that take as good as the Leitz brethren.
 
My wife has made this kit my Christmas present. Initial offer of $450 was countered with $600, and we met in the middle at $525, shipping included. Delivery is expected on Thursday.
 
Good deal I'd say. Especially when factoring in the post-war Biogon from all original Zeiss parts.

But, what were the serial number on the IIIc and the mounted lens? If that was wartime stuff, you might gotten an excellent deal!
 
Serial number shows manufacture date of 1946-47, so not quite there on wartime. I can't make out the serial number on the 5cm Elmar from the photos that I have of it, but I would imagine it is of similar vintage. I will know more come Thursday. I almost don't want it to be too much of a rarity, because then I might be to afraid to use it, if that makes any sense.
 
Congratulations, that's a great price, even if the Biogon is a Soviet copy. As far as that goes, the fact the kit was purchased in 1946 makes me think it's the real thing, simply because I wouldn't think there were any fakes being produced at that early date. (I will say that the engraving makes me wonder -- CZJ used periods rather than commas on the focusing and depth of field scales, and the triangular index mark seems "fatter" than what CZJ used. But even if that lens weren't part of the kit, you still got a great deal, I think!)
 
Also included will be assorted accessories, viewfinders, and other "stuff" that the seller "isn't sure what it is". I didn't query too deeply, so there will still be some surprises when I open my Christmas present on Thursday.

Looks like a nice clean kit, and a reasonable price for all. I wouldn't necssarrily consider the 85mm Nikkor and the 90 mm Elmar redundant gear, even though they are both nearly the same focal length... the Nikkor is at least four-times as "fast" as the Elmar, putting it more near the category of the Leitz Summarex.

I was shooting at a Christmas party last night with my 1934 III, and Elamr 90, and would have almost killled for those few more stops to make f:2... 😱

Make sure you find a rear-cap for that Zeiss wide-angle, to protect that very naked rear-element !

Even without knowing the serial number that's definitely not a war-time IIIc, it hasn't got a step under the rewind lever 😉
The chrome appears to be in good shape so that makes me think it's not an early post-war one either.
If it was a wartime one it would push up the price of the body with about $200.


Anyway, nice present from the missus, Greyscale. 🙂

From the pics in post #11, the body is number 429115. The Head Bartender's list says it's a IIIc from '46/'47 (block 400000 - 440000).

I think it was a good deal for both you and the seller...... it will be interesting to see what all comes with it
 
The iiic is a nice camera to shoot with ,
Since the biogon is 311 number it is genuine zeiss jena
Made lens , there are fakes of earlier wartime numbers
Over 300 is postwar numbering
The biogon has a body made of aluminum
Be cAreful when mounting the lens , as the threads are aluminum

The 8.5 cm nikkor is also a gem

Nice outfit even if it may need something

Awesome Christmas gift from the wife. I've been wanting a Barnack to mount my 1946 50 elmar on for a while. Rest on the Zorki 2 I have but it just isn't the same. That's gonna be a nice shooter...enjoy!
