Hi guys,

For a side business of mine (making guitars and accessories) I've recently acquired some CNC milling machines, laser cutter, engraver and wood carver.

I want to make something camera related but can only think of a grip now, which I'm prototyping.

If any one has any idea on what they want to make but don't have the tools I'm happy to try it out for free. If it's a cool idea that can sell I'm happy to discuss the commercial aspect of it but the design remains yours, I just do this for fun not trying to rip peoples off.

If anyone has access to a 3D printer there would be a steady market for Minolta 16 cassette take-up-side lids and inside hub. The rest of the cassette is identical to the Kiev 30 cassette and you get those for a buck each plus post.
The cheapest Minolta 16 cassettes are $15 and up as far as I can see. Has to be a $ in it someplace?
 
- mamiya 16 cartridges
- hood for a Bronica RF645
- hood for a Fuji 617 105mm
- back to use Fuji Instax wide on a Mamiya Press
- a more ergonomic grip for the Press
- back to use Instax Mini on a Mamiya ProTl
- decent alu 120 film holder for photographing slides
- blank lensholder for Mamiya C220/330

That is what just on my project list for if I have time, sometime. Got some less down to earth ones as well 😀

If you can mill alu that Mamiya C220/330 frontplate would be the easiest to start with I think. So you could adapt other lenses or make a pinhole. Might make a drawing for it.
 
The Mamiya C220/330 front plate is very doable but can you enlighten me on how you would focus with adapting other lenses? Stick 2 on?

Hood is easy if you can supply drawing as I don't have those camera.

The Minolta 16 cassette needs a much finer 3D printer than what I have atm so not doable (yet).

As for the Instax back I can make a frame provided somebody comes up with the electronic to make it works.
 
Oh man, congratulations on the new toys.

Personally, been hankering for a Arca Swiss QR plate for my little Leica X1.

Maybe a Rewind Lever for that gorgeous M2?
I made one myself with nothing more than a drill press and a set of hand files.

You could indeed use a second lens, they don't even have to be identical. Would take some time to align if you want to use it for focusing. But for a pinhole just some lens so you have an idea where you are pointing it is enough.

The Instax back would just use the entrails of a Fuji Wide/Mini camera. I have already a Mini with the intention to graft it in a regular Pola back for the 645. But time is not available right now. Too busy getting a live steam engine going 😀

What file formats can you use?
 
Yeah why didn't I thought of gutting an Instax camera. I'll try that on one of my cameras first then.

Sketchup is good enough to start.

Why would you stick some random lens on a TLR if I may ask? It's a hell lot easier to make a custom pin-hole camera actually, I can do that with a Mamiya Press back.

@ B-9: any specific design you want? as vanilla QR plate is easy to get on ebay. And yeah I might start making the rewind lever, that gotta be cheap
 
A nice, solid, and relatively unobtrusive grip for my Canon P. There's enough people using these that there has to be a market, assuming the price can be kept reasonable (the prices for grips I've seen for various Leica Ms do not begin to approach my definition of reasonable...).
 
An E46 filter adapter to mount those filter on the 35mm Summilux pre-ASPH 2nd version. Something like the "steel-rim" of the 1st version of this lens. It would have to have 42mm inner diameter and three grub screws (M1 size?) to be fixed on the front of the lens.
 
A Tom A. Rapidgrip clone that would fit a digital M-Body. Note that others have requested that Tom make a Rapidgrip for digital M's.

An lens adapter that would allow me to mount an Olympus 24/3.5 shift lens that has already been converted to Nikon F-mount to be converted yet again to Leica R-mount (no metering cams required) to be able to mount this lens on a Leica SL2-MOT. Stop-down metering would be employed.

Dual hot shoe adapters. CameraQuest once supplied these, but they are no longer available.

Oh, that's nice. I didn't know I was missing something for my recently-acquired Bessa II, but obviously I am.
 
I agree completely with the double hot shoe adapters. I recently asked Match Technical if they would release a version without the "thumb grip" portion that they make for digital Ms.

Yeah the left-hand release and gripping the camera is a bit awkward. I can barely get sharp images at 1/100 even with the leaf shutter due to those issues and the lightness of the camera.

What the Fuji X-world needs is a thumb grip (sim to lensmate) that has an integral hot shoe (a real hot shoe, NOT a cold shoe) for mounting a Fuji flash above it allowing full functionality.
