what year is your m3 from?

1954. Of course it didn't really look anything like this when it left Wetzlar :)
Gorgeous M3. Is that the 'air force grey' paint from Shintaro?

Mine was a back-up body owned by a local gentleman who bought two M3's when stationed in Germany. He told me that he would take the M3 out and just excercise it once a year without film.

Can M4s play? 1969. I like the idea of another M body the same age as me, though. I fall between Joe's and PaulH's.

It's interesting to read this. Now, I don't have an M3, but both interesting (in this sense) cameras that I do have both have serials in the first year of thier production runs - Canon 7, 1961 & CL, 1971 which is an interesting bit of humor in it's own right.

So 2 years before I was born and when I was 8 years old. It's a strange feeling sometimes...

My M3 was born in September 1965, seven years before I was born. I think my father bought it new. He had a tendency to spend a bit too much to get the best possible, but he got a lot of good use out of this camera and now I am too.

Hey, Craig's camera looks like it went through some changes. Preview lever and it looks like a single stroke advance lever? Not to mention the obvious paint work.

Mine are 1955 and 1957. Stu

Contax IIa is from 1955, when I was just a gleam in my father's eye.
M2 is from 1958, when I was 1.
M3 is from 1963, when I was 6.

My M3's from 1961, making it a full eighteen years older than I am and a veteran of several photographer's camera bags from the looks of things (and from the insides, unfortunately, according to the repairer who's working on it at the moment :( )

Well, my M3 shot into this great world the same year I did. The camera will be one of the youngest M3s here, youngest listed so far, me, I am right in the middle of the pack.

1966 was the year.

Mine is from 1958 (922,xxx), it has the cool Buddah ears. The original single stroke winding head (silent on the return type) has been replaced with one that clicks on the return. I think I will either get a case before long or replace the vulcanite. I came to in 1970, so it is a bit older than I am. I used to rebuild VW's so I am used to cars being older than I am too. But this camera is even older than my last bus.

Nov 1962 and March 1963--and I was 20 years old at that time and had NO idea how much I'd enjoy photography later on--
Paul
