I'm having a particularly tempting carrot dangled before me at the moment in the shape of a beautiful, minty Canon IVS. It comes equipped with an equally tasty 50mm/f1.8 optic. Question is though, what is a good price for this set? I've had a look online but can't find any current values listed anywhere. Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers,
Ian

lens = approx $150 USD with ex. glass.
body = approx $250 to 300 USD if no cla is needed & with good shutter curtains.

So a total of $450? Hmmm, the seller is asking 250 UK Pounds Sterling, which equates to $500 at the moment – although that probably has more to do with the current crazy exchange rate than anything. It is very tempting though...

do not forget that european prices are generally a bit higher.
most of the barnack type Canons ended up in the USA thru PX sales etc..
it was not until the IVSb model that Canon tried selling in Europe, and it was only seen at first as a Japanese Leica copy, inferior to it yet still too pricey for most europeans at the time.

so what the seller is asking is in the ball park, give or take a few US dollars.

I think you could find a better deal on ebay, but it is a little more risky. Camera's with lenses sell for less then the camera and lens sold separaly. If you are not picky about the model, you could definately get a canon rf and 50/1.8 for less then $400.
