We're all light!
A package arrived from Hong Kong this afternoon.
An acquaintance had offered to send me what she referred to as a 35mm Holga. I said, "Huh? I'd heard rumors of such a thing existing, but..."
Here's the evidence:
(Hmm...frame counter works, it has a hot shoe, and no discernible light leaks...maybe it's counterfeit.)
It's a kinda-sorta shrunken Holga 120, except for the above comments, plus a shutter release threaded for a cable release (a "B" setting switch is on the camera bottom).
Interesting Stuff:
- Film-wind and shutter (self-charging leaf shutter) are independent of each other in operation, allowing multiple exposures without much effort.
- Shutter speed(s): one (1/100)
- Aperture: f/8, f/11.
- f/8 aperture is circular (Waterhouse-style), permanenfly fixed; f/11 aperture is rectangular, and slides in just behind the f/8 iris when chosen.
- Tripod mount therad, as well as cable-release thread, have metal inserts.
- Film-loading door uses channel-type light-seal system. I'll see how well it works in a day or so.
So...I finally did get my Holga. But, they shrunk it, honey.

I've spent the last 2 weeks shooting the 120 version for a change of pace, interesting results to say the least, you can see some here:http://www.flickr.com/photos/89936228@N00/sets/72157603752209287/show/
The 35mm one looks cool, I agree...post some when you get 'em developed.

Todd,
Love those pics. You've inspired me. I'm going to break out my Holga and shoot a roll this weekend!

Great shots! Were they all taken with the same Holga?

I've seen this camera on the lomography store site, it looks pretty cool, do the pics look holga-like at all? i have been hesitant to get one if the quality is too high.

FWIW, Randy Smith at Holgamods shows how to shoot 135 in his 120 Holga and he also sells a dedicated 35mm one as well. I got the standard one last September for 120 and use it for 120 and 135. Have fun!

The Holgamods dedicated 35mm Holga is cool because you can rewind in the field without having to bring a changing bag. That being said, you can easily shoot 35mm film in a regular Holga with a couple pieces of foam. Works fine.
There's a winding chart available online to get a few more shots out of your roll, and Squarefrog has a video that shows how to load the film. More info and links:

We're all light!
I've had a lolapalooza of a few weeks, so I didn't put any rolls through the lil' Holga (yet), but I', going to try and get to Adorama or B&H tomorrow or Monday for a fresh (and overdue!) stash of Ilford XP2...the only proper thing I can think of putting through the "Mini-Me" Holga.
rjporter: I guess I should've known the Lomo gang would get their mitts on this. I don't even want to know what they ask for one of these things (which, relatively speaking, isn't that shabby in build quality, for what it is...)

Unfortunately the Holgas are becoming more and more like "real" cameras. It's seems that the chinese just don't get the idea that the dedicated Holga user doesn't want a "real" camera, but then they don't "get" much of anything anyway, like human rights or the right of the Tibetan people to preserve their heritage. I'd just like to find a way to buy anything that doesn't say "Made in China." My wife bought me some "Japanese Peanuts" the other day, and it said, "Made in China!" Is the Diana made in china? I have an original Diana F. I just received a Retina Ia. That was made in Germany, I hope.

This is a proof to me that excellent photographer can do magic even with a Holga
Todd, as usual, inspiring!
