Fun thread! About to go on a company retreat in Santa Barbara tomorrow... here's what I'm packing. Just realized after I took the photo that I was missing an extra battery.

Is that a M9 with a one-piece base plate and grip? Pardon me, but I never knew such a product existed!

Beautiful pictures everyone!

Really?? That is the standard Leitz grip that is offered as an accessory for the M8/9. Chrome, black chrome, or black paint.

Haha... Guess I really lack knowledge in the Leica accessories field... Or there are simply too few people using that grip? Never occurred to me before this!:D

Nice shot Joe and with your new bag too. Doesn't look as big as I thought it was in that shot. Wonder if it would make a good bag for my trip next week to Morocco.

Hmm...good timing for this thread showing up.

Tomorrow, the Rugged Wear 5xb will be here.:) The plan has been for a long time to set up a separate bag for just a single camera outing. This is a departure from the base camp approach with the Hadley Pro as I really do not need more than one camera at a time sometimes when I am out and about. Enter the smaller bag.

But, what to put in it while leaving everything else in the Hadley Pro?

For the M3, I have the body with the lens attached and an old Soligor light meter. I desperately need a new meter. Then, I need a bunch of b/w film. But what else?

For the X1, I need the extra memory card and battery along with the battery charger. What else?

I should be able to figure this out myself but thought it would be cool to hear from you guys as more heads are better than one!.:p

Hope to get this sorted out soon and actually feel like photographing something, anything.

Can never get enough of these entries. I seem to have an obsession with wanting to know what kind of kit people carry.

This is what I tend to have with me...

I used to carry a DSLR (Pentax K20D, used to take these pics) all over the place but since rediscovering film, the only digital that travels with me is the iPhone camera (which sits in my pocket so not pictured). The DSLR tends to come along on any big trip I might take.

- Satchel
No name brand that I got for a few £ with some padded inserts.
- Plastic carrier bag
In case rain gets a little too wet(!) as the satchel is not waterproof.
- Leica M3 with Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1.5.
After wanting one for a good few years but never quite being able to afford one, this came along at a very, very low price so I snapped it up. Haven’t looked back since.
- Olympus XA2
Wonderful, small, light, unobtrusive, simple to use. What else can I say?
- FIlm
Any brand really but normally Fuji 400. There’s always 4 rolls in the bag and 1 each in the cameras before leaving the house. I’d hate to run out of film when I need it most.
- Cheapo no name brand notebook and pen.
- Fishing weight
Last but not least, the fishing weight. Bought it in Istanbul a while ago and it goes with me everywhere. I don’t quite know why as I don’t even fish!

This is for a two week trip abroad, though there will be more film than showed here. It will be in my bag when traveling to and fro, but not all of it will be with me all over the place when I get there. Heavy!

In my bag

I have two bags I use. The latest Bare Bones Bag and a Billingham Leica Combination Bag. I'm finding I like traveling with the BBB more than the Billingham.

But here's my gear:

  • Leica M-E
  • Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 pre-ASPH
  • Leica Elmarit-M 90mm f/2.8 e46
  • Match Technical Thumbs Up
  • Match Technical Opera 3 soft release
  • Extra Leica battery
  • ThinkTank PeeWee PPR SD card holder
  • Giottos Rocket-Air
  • Zeiss lens brush
  • Hoya 46mm NDx8 Filter
  • USB card reader
  • WhiBal Cards
  • Match Technical E-Clypse 1.25x
  • Rite in the Rain Memo Book
  • Rite in the Rain All Weather pen
  • 12" Lastolite Reflector
  • 2L Sea to Summit dry bag
  • Permanent marker wrapped with gaffers tape.
  • Leica lens cloth

Wow nice setup Pandorf! Simple and effective.

I never knew Zeiss made lens brushes! I suppose it is really expensive huh? And is it more effective than regular lens pen brushes?:D

Anyway, I have a regular no name brush to sweep dust off my camera equipment!;)

Thanks for the link! Maybe I would get it some time soon... Haha... I guess not yet.
Been buying too much gear lately, have got to stop.
Enjoy your M-E, of course you will!:)
