What's in your glass / cup right now .....

Liquore Strega (witches brew) is something my inlaws dish out frequently.
I'll have to get some to go with the home-brew. It comes from Benevento, Campagnia, Italy and kinda looks like Galliano for those familiar with that (see attachment). Tastes like heaven. circa 40% by volume. Sticky sweet liquor, very nice.

Mercurey 1er cru 'Clos du tonnerre' 1999 by Michel Juillot sweet semi transparent red burgundy (specific to this appelation) semi bodied with a very elegant finale.

I'm drinking James Squire Ale, the one pictured on the left, below in Pic 1, right in pic 2. Pic 3 is where the pics were made on last W/E camp trip.

The one I'm drinking right now is a fresh one!

The Vodka & lime is for my assistant(!)

First egg-nog of the season.

I was in a "nameless" national discount chain store today, buying cheap sunglasses, (don't ask) they were playing Christmas carols! So you aren't jumping the gun. Any sherry or rum? A little fresh nutmeg is good too.

Kenia Blue Mountain, very fine grounded and prepared in a Cafetera with fresh milk.

So, everybody is getting sauced while surfing RFF...it's all starting to make sense now...🙂

I just finished a bottle of Aquarius Active Diet. One of the myriad of energy drinks that populate the shelves here in Japan. I am not ashamed to admit that the only reason I bought it is because I saw a really hot girl on the subway drinking it....

Otherwise, I don't usually drink and surf. I mostly drink water, mineral water, espresso drinks and diet coke. That's about it. Occasionally wine or beer if i am out or something, but I am not a frequent drinker.

KIX dust. Would have been KIX an hour ago.

You bunch of alcoholics 🙂 I would have a Red Hook ESB if I could, but I don't have any. If I wanted to, I could go down into the cellar full of wine that my grandpa left behind when he passed away, and grab a bottle of something frighteningly rare . . . if anyone is a wine enthusiast, and lives near Los Angeles, I have a great deal (about 300 grand) of rare wine - about a thousand bottles - that I would like to unload in the nearest future. Of course, I would have to meet you somewhere, and blindfold you and drive you to my house like in that movie . . . The Insider. For similar reasons. Seriously though.

Till then, I might grab one of those Kistler 2001 Chardonnays.

Shutterflower,
I'd unload that wine as slowly and carefully as you can, the rare market is big these days.

If you haven't already, go to a good wine merchant, and ask a bit about how to sell those things. A good wine merchant may even be able to sell for you, of course for a cut.

And don't sell all of it...it would be a pity to lose that legacy entirely.

Anyway, I've got some mediocre Borovicka that a friend brought me from Slovakia.

I've just finished a large espresso (let's call it a dopio dopio)...stovetop espresso maker from REI...excellent cast aluminum Italian design, it squirts directly into a cup rather than its own pot, which saves weight if one's backpacking. Simple, cheap, almost instantaneous. I like the blackest beans I can find. Note to amateurs: coffee ferments and turns bad within perhaps two weeks if the beans are not refrigerated within a few days of roasting. If you grind in advance you should use the coffee within a few days.

Espresso has started my day almost EVERY day since 1968, when I found a convenient Armenian deli nearby in San Francisco's Sunset District. Prior to that, for several years and during college, I'd only had espresso at coffee houses...such as Malvina's in North Beach or the Mediterannium (yes that was the spelling) in Berkeley, which was absolutely the main off-campus public hotbed of revolution at the time. Back then old Volkswagens were black, colors had only been around for a couple of years. The girls had Vespas as well as thin Summer dresses that were comfortable for them in the afternoons, but in the chilly mornings caused certain lovely changes to their physiques.

But for espresso I'd be a professional basketball star...as it is, I'm a balding 62yr old geezer whose main exercise is several days a week at the gym, and occasional hikes in New Mexico mountains.

A steaming cup of Hawaiian Kona coffee.

Which reminds me... I've got to shoot a C&C photo with the Australian Lynx I just got in the mail from Gman.
