What's the material of weight bar in weighted film hanging clips?

I have a set of Arista stainless steel film hanging clips, one is weighted with a small metal weight bar. I am curious what's the material of the weight bar. Is it made of lead? Thanks!

Does it look like lead? Metallic dull gray? I didn't know they had weighted ones. I have found that the weight of a clip--any clip--even a clothespin--is enough.

If it is lead it would be soft enough to scratch with a needle. Even if it is lead, it is not a health hazard as long as you don't suck on it or otherwise ingest it. Joe

Mine are pretty ancient and my guess would be that they are lead.

It's not lead. It's actually plumbum. A quite rare commodity you should hold on to as an investment.

I did some measurement yesterday, basically the weight and volume. The density is very close to lead.

Armed with a few lead fishing weights, you weight any film clip.
I find a positive grabbing feature more important than weight. I have had inferior non-film weights slide off of wet film.

A dip in Liquid Plastic to cover the lead would remove any lingering doubts of "touchability".

Mine are lead. And they kept falling out of the clip, so I fastened them using some zip ties.

I actually prefer to weigh down the ends of the film using binder clips. I abrasively sand the surface of the clip that touhes the film enough that it's grabby even on wet slick films, and I hook a rubber band over one of the metal pieces you press to open the clip. I hang a small empty pill bottle onto the rubberband. For pesky films that won't stay, I put some weight into the bottle, and for 120, I use 2 clips attached to the same bottle to dry as straight as I can.
